A few months ago Clare volunteered to be paired with a medical student who was entering the ‘Findacure’ essay competition in order to raise the profile of DDX3X amongst the doctors and researchers of tomorrow.
She was paired with a young Scottish medical student, Megan McGlone, who prepared some questions for her and chatted on the phone for an hour or so. She wrote a great essay and got some good points across. She didn’t win but was shortlisted and has helped spread knowledge about DDX3X a little further.
With the help of Findacure, Genetic Alliance and our own work through DDX3X Support UK the condition is slowly becoming known and interest in UK based research is growing.
